Dating back at least 40,000 years, Australia's indigenous people have the oldest living culture in the world.
For a visitor to the Land Down-under, one can be forgiven in thinking that Aboriginal society is a cohesive culture with an interconnected network of Dreamtime stories and customs. In actual fact, the Aboriginal culture has been estimated have up as many as 750 distinct social groups and each tribe's customs, language and traditions can be extremely diverse. For example, there are up to twenty-seven different Australian aboriginal languages and the stories of the Dreaming contain different meanings and origins to different Aboriginal communities.
The Aboriginal culture is beautifully fascinating and no road trip or campervan journey around Australia is complete without learning about some to the ancient customs and stories of the land.
At Britz, we are proud to partner with a number of Indigenous Champions from around the country who help keep the traditional teachings and customs of the Aboriginal people alive.
